The three construction equipment companies of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group (Hyundai Genuine, Hyundai Construction Equipment, Hyundai Doosan Infracore) hosted their first ‘Volunteer Day’, a joint CSR activity, voluntarily joined by executives and employees.
The volunteer day was held on Thursday, Nov 10, at locations nearby offices of each construction equipment company, Seongnam, Incheon and Gunsan respectively, which consist of ‘Kimchi Making’ and ‘Plogging’ events
More than 500 employees joined the kimchi making event, with Hyundai Genuine CEO Cho Young-cheul attending in Incheon, Hyundai Genuine CEO Lee Dong-wook and Hyundai Construction Equipment CEO Choi Cheol-gon attending in Seongnam, and Hyundai Doosan Infracore CEO Oh Seung-hyun attending in Gunsan, Korea, creating a meaningful day making kimchi together and also having a chance to look around the local community.
A total of 8,800 heads of kimchi were made by the three construction equipment companies and will be sent to local social welfare facilities, which will then be delivered to 2,500 socially marginalized households. It is highly hoped that the donated kimchi will be of great help to the socially marginalized neighbors that are greatly concerned about this years’ increasing prices as well as the costs needed to make kimchi, compared to the previous year.
A representative of Hyundai Genuine mentioned, “The purpose of volunteer day is to create an opportunity to take care of our local environment and also share warmth with our neighbors” and added, “We hope that this will be of great help to our neighbors going through this winter as many are fatigued from the prolonged Coronavirus pandemic and economic inflation.” <EOD>
