Doosan Infracore’s presence has been growing at a staggering rate in the Korean mini excavator market, which is still dominated by imported mini excavators.

On 26 October 2020, Doosan Infracore announced that its sales of domestic mini excavator during the first nine months of the year had increased by 192% compared to the same period last year, and by 300% over the same period in 2018.

A mini excavator generally refers to an excavator weighing less than 5 tons. The Korean mini excavator market has grown by more than 10% over the past five years, reaching about 3,000 units in annual sales in 2019, around 90% of which were imports from Japan, leading to a general consensus that localization of the mini excavator sector is most urgently required above all other types of construction equipment.

Since its entry into the mini excavator market in 2017, Doosan Infracore has been steadily increasing its sales volume, which has contributed to its competitive edge in both product performance and customer service.

In July 2019, Doosan Infracore launched the new DX17z-5 in the 1.7-ton market, which accounts for about half of the mini excavator market in Korea. The new model boasts unrivaled competitiveness over competitors in its class in terms of excavation power, rotation speed, and operating angle. It is just 950mm wide, making it highly maneuverable in narrow spaces, while its crawler width can expand to as much as 1,360mm, helping it to maintain its balance comfortably during operation.

The DX17z-5 model has also been recognized for its outstanding competitiveness in design, having won both the 2020 Red Dot Design Award and the 2019 Pin Up Design Award. It has also acquired the GD mark, a certificate awarded by the Korean government to products of proven excellence in their design features.

This year, Doosan Infracore has also released an upgraded version of the DX35z-5 3.5-ton excavator launched in 2017 in an effort to actively respond to the increasingly diverse market demand. The model required a mere 2-meter turning radius despite having a wider working range than that of the competitors' equivalent models.

Doosan Infracore’s mini excavators have an advantage in product maintenance, too.

Consumers can access spare parts and the after-sales service quickly and conveniently from its 38 service branches across the country, the highest number in the industry. On top of that, Doosan Infracore offers customers a 3-year/6,000-hour special warranty program for key parts such as engines and hydraulic parts, enhancing its unrivaled customer service competitiveness.

An official of Doosan Infracore said, "We will become the game changer in the Korean domestic mini excavator market by maximizing customer convenience on the strength of our excellent product performance and design features combined with our service competitiveness."
